Welcome to our farm
The opportunity to provide beauty, nourishment, and education to a community that’s been safely tucked away as a dream is now the tiny seed of a growing reality in beautiful rural Loudon County.
Our story
Our dream became a reality in 2015 when we bought our peaceful and beautiful property - mosquito’s, chiggers and all.
Little Sparrow Farm was born.
Heirloom perennials and peonies went in, annual flowers flourished, a fruit orchard blossomed, heirloom thornless blackberries quickly became jams, a heaping herbal garden turned into dried teas, while strawberry and blueberry bushes abundantly supplied us with their juicy goodness.
A newly planted lavender field (soon to be enjoyed by all) sits next to the vigorous hops rhizomes that flourish and produce for beauty and tasteful purpose. Many heirloom vegetables go in every summer to the rich soil next to a 9-acre spring fed lake.
The abundance produced on this peaceful piece of earth is unbelievable and all pollinated by 16 hives of busy honeybees who call our farm home.
Life was instantly busier that fall of 2015. Busier than before but in a very good way as Ray and his father lovingly and skillfully began building our farmhouse.
Our interest in living closer to the ground, and my desire to take a leave from a medical career as a registered nurse in medical sales, quickly led to me fully embracing thoughts of a farm-based career.
Learning to grow flowers and design florals with my mother as a child led the transition to flower farmer as an intuitive and natural choice.
This love of gardening, combined with more than 30 years of experience in floral work, allowed for a smooth transition into Farmer Florist.
